Georges Samara, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Family Business.
He is the winner of the extraordinary doctorate award, along with more than 10 international awards for his published research. His research has focused on family business, entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility and sustainability, and he published more than 50 academic articles, editorials, books and book chapters.
He is the global research champion for the Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices (STEP) project; and he is Co-Editor in Chief for Business Ethics, the Environment and Responsibility.
Ramy is licensed by the Dubai Legal Affairs Department, the International Bar Association, and the Beirut Bar Association.
His practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions, taxation, corporate governance, joint ventures and cross border projects. His clients are spread across industries such as family holdings, banks, financial institutions and private equity firms, tech companies, energy, manufacturing, hospitality, and F&B.
Ramy serves as independent board member for a bank, multiple holding companies and a number of private equity firms and NGOs. Some of his other leadership position include chairing the Young Presidents Organization chapter of YPO Mena One, board membership and the GBL (Global Business Lawyers) Alliance, co-founding and board membership at the Lebanese Association of PPP, and membership of the Oil & Gas and Information Technology Committees at the Beirut Bar Association.
Ramy has acted as the legal regional advisor overseeing the merger of the two biggest French conglomerates in waste and water management (a contract of around EUR 15 billion) and acted in the facilitation of a USD 100 million EBRD loan to a Lebanese bank (support of target industries).
Amongst other pioneering deals, he was involved in the acquisition of a controlling stake in a Lebanese bank for over half a billion USD, the largest of its kind to take place in the country.
